UNAIR NEWS “ Veterinarian and lecturer of the 51¶¯Âþ Dr. drh. Nusdianto Triakoso MP appointed the Indonesian Association of Veterinary Internal Medicine (AKIVI) Chairman in 2023 “ 2026.

The AKIVI is a non-territorial organization that was established in 2012. The AKIVI does not have any regional branch organizations. œAKIVI aligns with specialization interests across Indonesia without division by specific regions, Dr. Nus said. He was elected through acclamation.

The election was held concurrently with the National Congress, organized every four years. The members include lecturers and veterinarians from Indonesia with the same specialization.

œThe change in leadership follows the tenure of the Central Board of the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (PB PDHI). Our members are focused on internal medicine, he said on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

The AKIVI™s activities varied. One of them is becoming a facilitator in the meeting of internal medicine veterinary lecturers in Indonesia. They discussed the learning quality for veterinary medicine students.

œWe discuss the learning challenges, including course alignment, discussing lecture topics for all Faculty of Veterinary Medicine students, he said.

The students undergo their academic training through exit exams. After that, they have to pass an exam to become a veterinarian. Hence, each Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has the responsibility to train the students to face this exam.

œDespite years of study, failing the exam means they cannot qualify as veterinarians, he said.

Apart from that, AKIVI also provides seminar and workshop programs to develop the competence of the students, lecturers, and practitioners. The challenges for Dr. Nus in leading the AKIVI await.

However, reorganizing the structure and its members is his main focus œWe want to develop specialized skill certifications. This distinguishes them from regular veterinarians. They™ll earn specific titles. We will outline the expertise that can be objectively measured in the future, he said.
