UNAIR NEWS The nationwide Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) officially launched across Indonesia, with (UNAIR) serving as one of East Java檚 primary testing sites. On the first day, Wednesday (April 23, 2025), UNAIR successfully hosted the exam in an organized and efficient manner.

This year, 14,660 participants are scheduled to take the UTBK across eight testing sites spread throughout UNAIR檚 Dharmahusada-A, Dharmawangsa-B, and MERR-C campuses. The university has designated 18 rooms for the exam, which will be held over 18 separate sessions.

Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih MT Ak CA noted a significant increase in UTBK participants at UNAIR this year. 淲e檙e seeing a rise in participation, with over 14,000 candidates registered攈igher than in previous years, he said.

Prof. Nasih reported that the first day of exam went smoothly, with both technical systems and security measures performing reliably. 淯NAIR has worked hard to ensure a smooth and secure testing experience. Everything functioned as expected, and we檙e hopeful that upcoming sessions will continue in the same manner, he added.

To enhance security and prevent exam fraud, UNAIR introduced a policy requiring participants to wear standardized sandals. The measure is part of the university檚 broader effort to ensure fairness and deter any potential misconduct.

淭echnology today can be misused. We檝e seen individuals attempt to undermine exam integrity by hiding communication devices that aren檛 detected by metal scanners, said the senior professor from UNAIR檚 Faculty of Economics and Business.

He emphasized that the footwear policy is not merely for hygiene, but a strategic move to mitigate risks associated with cheating and to promote equal conditions for all test-takers.

With these support systems in place, Prof. Nasih expressed hope that the UTBK at UNAIR would continue to run smoothly through its conclusion. 淲e hope this marks a strong start for the nation檚 brightest young minds as they take the next step in their academic journey, he concluded.
