UNAIR NEWS “Alzheimer™s disease, also known as dementia, is a neurodegenerative condition characterized by a progressive, chronic decline in memory function. This disorder leads to memory impairment, often manifesting as forgetfulness or cognitive lapses. Alzheimer™s disease occurs when the hippocampus, a key region of the brain responsible for memory, is damaged, resulting in brain shrinkage. The initial symptoms of Alzheimer™s may be subtle, but the disease progresses continuously, causing a gradual decline in memory.
