UNAIR NEWS – From 25 to 29 November 2025, (UNAIR) welcomed Regina Chriscel Santos Delute, Head of the External Affairs Office and teaching staff member from the College of Teacher Education at Batangas State University, The Philippines, for a week-long UMAP Staff Training Program facilitated by Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE).

Ms. Delute檚 participation in the UMAP Staff Mobility initiative, designed to strengthen the professional capacities of academic and administrative personnel through international exchange, offered a rare inside look at how UNAIR has rapidly expanded its international footprint and cultivated a global academic reputation.

Her program opened with a full-day immersion in AGE檚 Sub-Directorate of Global Partnerships. Led by the Head of Domestic and International Partnership, the session detailed how UNAIR forges and sustains international cooperation, develops Memoranda of Agreement, and strengthens institutional visibility through digital promotion and international corner initiatives.

On November 26, Ms. Delute joined an official introductory session on UNAIR檚 global mission. Dr. Irfan Wahyudi, Director of AGE, delivered opening remarks outlining the university檚 internationalization roadmap and AGE檚 central role in advancing global engagement. The session continued with a guided visit to the Airlangga Global Space, home to the EU Centre, American Corner, Australia Banget Corner, and Taiwan Education Center, showcasing UNAIR檚 multi-regional partnerships and global outreach ecosystem.

The training deepened on her second day with the job shadowing session 淒riving Institutional Reputation Through International Mobility, hosted by AGE檚 International Mobility Team. The discussion examined how mobility programs are curated, coordinated, and evaluated, including mechanisms for supporting outbound and inbound students and staff. The session highlighted mobility檚 broader impact: fostering intercultural exchange, catalyzing academic collaboration, and enhancing institutional prestige.

Ms. Delute also attended the session 淓nhancing Global Reputation through Excellent Services and Grants, where AGE檚 Global Reputation Team demonstrated UNAIR檚 digital internationalization dashboards, welfare and immigration services, and strategies for securing competitive global grants, core elements of the university檚 global standing.

The following day, Ms. Delute stepped into the classroom, observing an English for Advertising course at the Faculty of Vocational Studies, taught by Ms. Celya Intan Kharisma. The session offered a window into UNAIR檚 teaching practices, curriculum approaches, and student engagement dynamics.

Beyond the classroom, Ms. Delute explored Surabaya through a city tour guided by the Best Buddies team, visiting cultural and historical landmarks that frame the city檚 identity. The day concluded with an intercultural and inclusivity workshop led by AGE檚 Welfare Team and International Student Best Buddies, emphasizing the university檚 commitment to supportive and inclusive internationalization.

On the final day, Ms. Delute joined the capstone and reflection session, presenting her key insights and outlining potential avenues for collaboration between Batangas State University and UNAIR. She expressed interest in sending more students to UNAIR through the AMERTA Internship scheme and encouraged colleagues involved in internationalization to experience similar staff development programs. She also highlighted opportunities for research collaboration among faculty members and expressed optimism about Batangas State University檚 future participation in the WUACD consortium, citing the strong alignment with community development missions.

Her visit through the UMAP Staff Training Program not only strengthened institutional ties between Indonesia and the Philippines but also reaffirmed a shared commitment to cross-border academic cooperation, capacity building, and globally engaged education.
