Encouraging students to be productive with social media

UNAIR NEWS– Workshop on Technique of Mastering Company Product with Smartphone was held by UNAIR Hospitality Management program and it was opened for public.As the title implies, this workshop provides information and tips to become acontent creatoras well as interesting photography technique for photo production only relying on asmartphone.

This activity was held virtually on Zoom Meeting app on Saturday, October 10, 2020 and was attended by 77 participants. Participants who attended the event were not only from Hospitality Management or from 51动漫 (UNAIR), but also from other universities such as University of 17 August 1945 (Untag), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), and University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya.

The purpose of this activity is to improve knowledge on tips and learn about the processes of photography, videography, editing, and other works usingsmartphonesfor students, especially those interested in photography and want to becomecontent creators.In this activity, it is also taught how to submit photos or works to become a product which is valuable for money.

Not only about photography and editing procedures or tips, the workshop was also taught how to upload photos onInstagramto make it more attractive andeye catching with personal branding to attract abrandor company to work together as a sponsor or known asendorsement.

Dian Yulie Reindrawati as a lecturer in UNAIR Hospitality Management three year vocational program (D3) gave a speech as a lecturer representative.Calista Valencia, a Hospitality Management student was the MC.Aditya Agung, a photographer andcontent creatorwas invited as speaker.

“Photos are products and can generate rupiah even only using asmartphone,” said Aditya.

After the workshop, the event committee hopes that students will be more productive in using smartphones, not only forchattingor connecting through social media but also producing works and products.The committee aims to encourage students who are active in social media to be interested in photography orcontent creation.The students are expected to make their hobby into works.(*)
