UNAIR NEWS –Globalization demands the law to adapt as a consequence of new emerging institutional order.For some time, the institutional order was expressed in the context of law even though globalization pushes into one connectivity.This approach can be bring both advantages and disadvantages at the same time because, that fact influenced investment, democracy, international relations, corruption, terrorism and social justice.
In response, the Faculty of Law (FH) held the 2nd International Conference on Law, Governance and Globalization (ICLGG) on Tuesday-Wednesday August 28-29 at Swiss Belinn Tunjungan, Surabaya.It is planned that ICLGG will be held annually.
“One of the goals is also to increase the publication in FH UNAIR itself and attract master and doctoral program students.The bachelor檚 degree students should also be accustomed to publications on an international scale, “said Faizal Kurniawan as Deputy of the committee.
Somekeynote speakerspresented were Prof.Dato ‘Dr, Rahmat Mohammad (Universitas Teknologi Mara, Malaysia);Prof.Sam Blay, LLB, M Int. Law, Ph.D (Top Education Institute, Australia);Prof.Dr.Tinike E. Lambooy, LL.M (Corporate Law at Nyenrode Business Universiteit, Netherlands);and Prof.Christoph Antons (University of Newcastle, Australia, Callaghan) including FH UNAIR academics, Amira Paripurna, SH, LL.M., Ph.D and Intan Inayatun Soeparna, SH, M.Hum.
Prof. Dato spoke on 滶mpowering Developing Countries in International Trade. Meanwhile, Prof. Sam Blay discussed 漀ational Interest in International Relation and Intan Soeparna talked about 漌hat檚 next it Government: the Future Indonesia Strategic Plan in International Trade.
“Some of thekeynote speakerswere fromthe firstconference.One of the goals is toshare ideas.For example, Prof.Tinike Lambooy first discussed chemicals used in jeans products.Yesterday she pointed out that jeans and electronic products were no longer sustainable.So, if we use acellphone, and it is damaged, itwillbe discarded.Even with clothes, we throw them out after it is worn out.This causes tremendous waste, “said Faizal.
“So from what was conveyed in the first ICLGG, what was found from the second one?There is also Prof.Sam Blay who emphasized national interests.We want to know the development and research that mostupdatedfrom Europe, Australia, and Asia.So, those speakers were invited, “he added.
Please note, there were about 70 participants attended the conference.They were academics, practitioners, and students either from UNAIR and from outside UNAIR.(*)
