UNAIR NEWS 摍sstudent hasmade another proudest achievement.Firda Iragama Wessels, a student of PPDS (Medical Specialist Education Program) Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNAIR, has won the East Java檚 Mister and Miss Education (Putra-Putri Pendidikan) selection event.
Firda admitted that as a doctor, she is always motivated to be useful to others. Firda hopes that with her election as Miss Education in East Java 2021, she can contribute to the progress of education in East Java, especially in the fields of education and health.
Inspired by the many underprivileged children in her area, the student born in 1996 initiated a movement to share books, and free classes in Surabaya called The Thousand Books Movement. In addition to this program, she also presented her two advocacy programs in the event, the Promil and Ask the Doctor App, which focuses on public health education.
In her first beauty pageant, Firda gained a lot of experience and networks. 淔rom this event, I can learn from many friends with cool advocacy programs and also get new perspectives from contestants who often participated in beauty pageants, added Firda.
Firda had an interesting experience when she had to rush to the hospital just before the Grand Final started. 淚 got information that the patient I was treating had a worsening condition, so before the Grand Final, I went to the hospital. As a doctor, I also have to take responsibility for my patients. At first, I was going to withdraw from the Grand Final because of the patient, but thank God everything was resolved, 渟he said.
Being named East Java檚 Miss Education is a commitment that Firda holds firmly without compromising her work as a doctor and her responsibilities as a PPDS student. While realizing the advocacy program at the East Java level, Firda is now preparing to represent East Java in the 2021 National Mister and Miss Education event. (*)
