FK UNAIR Student Work Among 10 Best Research in Asian Pacific Stroke Conference 2018

鲍狈础滨搁听狈贰奥厂– At Asian Pacific Stroke Conference (APSC)2018held on September 8-9, 2018 in Jakarta, 51动漫 () Faculty of Medicine (FK) Undergraduate student Rendra Dwi Putra had the opportunity to present his research in in front of hundreds of conference participants from various countries.Surprisingly, the study was later appreciated by the Asia Pacific stroke association.

In addition to presenting his research entitled ‘Correlation Between High Blood Pressure and Bleeding Volume with Degree of Conciousness and Mortality in Intracerebral Hemorrhage Patients in the Neurologic Section of Dr. Soetomo In 2014’, the abstract of the study also made it to 10best abstract from low and middle income countries.In fact, this young doctor was again called on stage to receivetravel grantbest abstract from Asia Pacific Stroke Organization(APSO).

In this research Rendra presented a correlation between blood pressure, volume of blood and the degree of consciousness and death in bleeding stroke patients.

This research is a pre-clinical final project research to fulfill the requirements of his judicium.From this research, Rendra received assistance from Mohammad Saiful Ardhie, dr., Sp.S, Djohar Nuswantoro, and dr., MPH, Achmad Firdaus Sani, dr., Sp. S, FINS as supervisors and examiners.

Until now the incidence and mortality rate of stroke sufferers has continued to increase in developing countries including Indonesia.

The 2013 Basic Health Research Data (RISKESDAS) noted that stroke patients in Indonesia reached 1,236,825 people and the province of East Java was third province with most stroke patients, about 302,987 people.

High threat of death and disability from stroke encourage world researchers and health experts, especially the neuroscientists to continue to work to assess these problems.

For this reason, efforts to renew knowledge and enrich insight are absolutely necessary for physicians to be able to keep up with the development of treatment technology in terms of stroke management.

The2018 APSC washeld in Jakarta.It is great opportunity for doctors, nurses, researchers, students who are interested in renewing their knowledge in handling stroke cases.

In the event, Rendra came with some teaching staff, including his supervisor, Mohammad Saiful Ardhi Dr., SpS.Saiful said he was enthusiastic because this year Jakarta was chosen as the host of APSC 2018.

The implementation of the APSC in previous years was abroad.2014 in Taipei, 2015 in Malaysia, then in Australia, and finally APSC 2017 in China.

“There are many things we can learn from the conference.Stroke experts from various countries discuss the latest developments around diagnosis, therapy, and stroke prevention strategies, “he said.

In addition tooral presentations, the conference also featured scientific posters from various countries such as Indonesia, Australia, America, Japan, India, China, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

There were six journalentriesacceptedfrom representatives of Department of Neurology FK UNAIR-RSUD dr.Soetomo Surabaya.There are fiveposter presentationsand oneoral presentation.These works will be published in theKargerjournal, such as in journal supplement of Cerebrovascular Diseases.Even from UNAIR, there were five studies included in Scopusjournal.

Saiful shared a unique experience for two days following the event.If the seminar committee generally conductstoursto tourist attractions, this time the APSC Committee invited the conference participants to go on a night trip to the Jakarta National Brain Center Hospital.

“This is interesting, because we can immediately see what hospital facilities belong to the health ministry,” he said.

Their arrival in Jakarta turned out to be a reunion event with fellow FK UNAIR alumni who served at PON Hospital, namely dr.Adin Nulkhasanah, SpS MARS (Deputy Director of Human Resources and Research at PON Hospital), dr. Ita Muharramsari SpS and dr. Diorita SpS.(*)
