FKp Students As the Only Nursing Delegates at World Research Competition

UNAIR NEWS –Faculty of Nursing Airlangga University has sent a team to attendHokkaido Indonesian Student Association Scientific Meeting-14 (HISAS-14) at Hokkaido University, Japan.HISAS 14 which was held on March 18-19, 2017 is a scientific discussion between young researchers held by the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) in Hokkaido.This event serves as a forum for young researchers from various disciplines, both at home and abroad to exchange knowledge and discuss the results of his research.

罢丑别听delegation teamconsisted of Rio Cristianto, Nurullia Hanum Hulfida and Lintang Kusuma Ananta, the first semester students of the Nursing Profession Education Program with thebesttwopapersentitled ”Psychoreligious Dhikr Therapy Be Affect to Anxiety Level of Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients”and“Family Stigma Who Have Family Member with Mental Illness: Schizophrenia “.

“罢丑别听paperexamines the effect of psychoreligious therapy with the method of dhikr on anxiety experienced by people with Pulmonary Tuberculosis, and the stigma of families who have family members with Schizophrenia,” explained Rio who is also the head of the delegation team.

In 14th anniversary of this year, HISAS took the theme of“Indonesia Sustainable Development Goals: Chance and Challenge for a Better Future“.

Rio also added that before joining this activity, the team must follow a selection process that began in November 2016 by sending abstracts of research.The review team for this selection consists of Indonesian students who are studying masters and doctoral degrees at Hokkaido University.More than 200 research abstracts have been sent byundergraduateandpostgraduatestudents,academics, and practitioners from various universities and governmental institutions in Indonesia and Japan.

“There were only 52best researchpapersthat passed the selection and were eligible to be presented orally and compete forbest paperandbest presentation,”he added.

HISAS 14 was started withopening speechdelivered by Prof.Michel La Fay, a representative from Hokkaido University, and Mr.Hiroshi Yamamoto from Hokkaido Gas, was officially opened by representative of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo,Ben Perkasa Drajat.

Before the main session, the presentation of the participants, the event began with alecturefrom twoinvited speakers,ie Dr.Marie Stefanie from theAgriculture Hokkaido University and Dr.Shuji Tamumura from Horonobe Japan Research Institute of the Subsurface Environment.

At the main sessionof theresearchpaperpresentation, participants were divided into five clusters namelyHealth & Life Sciences, Innovation & Technology, Agrotechnology, Sustainable Environment & Renewable EnergyandSocial & Human Sciences.

The FKp delegation team went into the Health & Life Sciences cluster with several other teams from health disciplines, such as medicine, pharmacy, and chemistry.In this session, the participants presented theirresearchpapers, then discussed with other participants and tested by panelists.

“The panelists who became testers and judges are from doctoral students and research staff who were studying and working at Hokkaido University,” he said.

Although this year the FKP delegation team has not been able to present thebest paperorbest presentation,but HISAS 14 has provided many valuable lessons.

“We got a lot of lessons from participating in this event.We can feel the atmosphere of international scientific discussions with experts in the field who broaden our way of thinking, communication and confidence, add knowledge about making quality research work, and expand the network overseas, “said Rio.
