UNAIR NEWS Indonesian Representative in PTRI for ASEAN Rahmat Pramono said that the young generation who choose to work in the field of diplomacy should be able to adapt with national policy. The statement was made during Debriefing II Forum of Indonesian Representative in , Monday, March 27.
As implemented by the administration of President Joko Widodo, Indonesian diplomacy is populist. It can be seen from the diplomatic efforts made were oriented to the people interest.
淭his populist democracy is a challenge for the diplomats so their work outputs can be directly bring benefits for the people, said Rahmad in a forum held in Kahuripan Hall 300, Management Office Building UNAIR.
Regarding the territory, PTRI ASEAN emphasized the importance of peace and security stability.
淚f there are turmoils, the economic trade traffic will be disrupted. PRTI ASEAN cannot resolve the territorial dispute. It is the right of both disputing countries to have a dialogue and reach a settlement. But we must be able to maintain security and stability, he said.
He added that the target in the end of 2017 is the protection of Indonesian migrated labor in ASEAN.
淥ur target is the protection of our labor rights. It doesn檛 mean that illegal labor can be treated just as they pleased, paid much lower than the standard. We focus on their human rights. We will protect them all, he said.
Meanwhile, the other speaker Triyono Wibowo as the permanent representative of Republic of Indonesia in PTRI for Geneva, said that all global issues can be handled with the same norms because all countries have backgrounds of different tribes, religions, races and groups. Even though the human rights are universal, not all can be treated the same, universal.
淣ot all problems can be negotiated, such as moral values, religious value. Religious value for example, they can檛 accept things out of their religion. There is something which cannot be universalized, he said.
Therefore, according to Triyono, the negotiation process between countries can take a great deal of time.
The Ambassador of Indonesia for Austria Rachmad Budiman made a comment on death sentence applied in some countries.
In our country, the issue on death sentence as final punishment is not certain. In other words, there are no agreements made it should be omitted or not.
淥ur attention should be directed to drugs related to public health. What will we do for the drug dealers? As they are not users, he said.
He believed it is more important to pay attention to the drug dealers rather than the drug users.
