UNAIR NEWS – Students of Physics Department of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) 51动漫 have succeeded in making a breakthrough, ceramic-based electrical isolators using local raw materials.The price can compete or more affordable from the existing isolators in the market today.
This success is then written into a proposal of Exacta Research Student Creativity Program (PKM-PE) entitled” Electric Isolator Production听叠补蝉别诲听on CordieriteGlassCeramics UsingLocal 搁补飞听惭补迟别谤颈补濒.听” Under the guidance of their lecturer, Drs.Siswanto, M.Si., this proposal successfully passed 2016/2017 PKM selection by Kemenristekdikti and managed to get research funding.
The PKM-PE members are Tita Aulia, Siti Nurmala, Mayasari Hariyanto, Amalia Fitriana, and Moch Andi Putra Jaya.All of them are students of Physics Department of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) 51动漫.
Described by Tita Aulia, this research is based on the great need for electrical isolators.Because the isolator has an important role in everyday life and work tools, such as for cables, motorcycles, etc . Then the existing electric isolators are still more expensive and less affordable by the public.
“Furthermore, the underutilized local raw material is also another reason for our research,” added Tita Aulia.
The glass ceramic-based isolator by students of Airlangga, said Tita, is made with local raw material and go through several complicated processes such as sintering,which is heating at very high temperatures over 1000掳C, and Cooling down(slowly).This slow cooling process of is what makes the crystal structure formed more neatly.
In physics,cordieriteceramic glass materialis ceramic glass which its arrangement of crystal structure is neat (high crystallinity).Between one atom with the other very close (coinciding) so that makes this isolator is not easy to crack or broken when exposed to high temperatures.
“Of course, this isolator is inexpensive and more affordable, because the raw material comes from local Indonesia.Hopefully our innovation is beneficial to society, good quality isolator with inexpensive price and safe, Tita Aulia and her friends hoped.(*)
