UNAIR NEWS To implement Tri Dharma of Higher Education, academic community has responsibilities to serve the community in their field of study. This is what makes Department of Historical Studies and its Alumni Association (IKA) to hold a community service in Tulungagung on Saturday, April 22.
The community service was a workshop on Tulungagung Local History Writing. They collaborated with Rumah Baca Onderan community to make the workshop successful. They invited teachers of History, students and the public with concern to the culture and arts of Tulungagung.
There were three speakers from the alumni of UNAIR Historical Studies. They were the young lecturer of UNAIR Ikhsan Rosyid Mujahidul Anwari (alumnus of class 2003), Adrian Perkasa (alumnus of class 2006), and Akhmad Ryan Pratama (alumni of class 2007).
In this occasion, Adrian presented a topic on local history. He also gave an example on local history topics in Tulungagung which is interesting to write.
淗istory was not always about power, especially history of great people only, but there was always contribution of common people in our history. There would be no changes without their contributions, said Adrian.
Ikhsan Rosyid on the other hand, presented a topic on the method and technique of writing history. In this occasion, he explained that UNAIR historical studies has unique study on urban history.
淭opics on urban history in UNAIR can be seen from the students theses titles which have alternative sub-themes, minority community and urban issues. This uniqueness is the key to proportional Indonesia historiography, said Ikhsan.
Interestingly, the participants of the workshop can propose a topic to write as a book. Hopefully the topics can be published in a historical article published as an anthology book of UNAIR Department of Historical Studies. So after the workshop, the participants can start writing on their local histories.
To achieve that objective, Pandu Diptya Yoga as the head of the Rumah Baca Onderancommunity admitted that he was ready to manage the articles collection.
淭he participants showed great enthusiasm to write about their local history and it makes us proud as alumni. Hopefully their knowledge on Tulungagung history can be recorded in the culture of literacy for their descendants, said Ryan who is also a lecturer of Universitas Ciputra.
The friendship and joy seen from the participants which are held on a relaxed manner. (*)
