UNAIR NEWS Directorate of Education UNAIR in collaboration with Directorate of Higher Education (DIKTI) is holding AISC (Airlangga International Student Competition) and ISS (International Student Summit) 2016. They were started with an opening ceremony held in Garuda Mukti Hall, Management Office Building, Campus c, on Monday, November 7.
The event was attended by hundreds of Indonesian students from 30 universities in Indonesia and foreign students from 40 countries. Vice Rector III Prof. Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, Ir., M.Si., Ph.D, and Purwanto Subroto, Ph.D as the representative of Kemenristekdikti delivered their official addresses.
In his address, Prof. Amin stated that international events like AISC and ISS should be alternatives for students to broaden their academic and no academic experience. Through the event, Prof. Amin hoped that Indonesian students become aware of their existence as parts of global community. Furthermore, they are expected to answer the global challenges to improve their capacity in their professional life.
淭he challenges of globalization should be answered by improving and maximizing their competence and capacity so they can stand up in professional life, said Prof. Amin.
In the same occasion, Purwanto added that the objective of AISC and ISS 2016 is not merely to gather, but also to share knowledge and experience. Purwanto hoped the foreign students can share their great experience in AISC and ISS.
淭he aim is not just gathering, but we can share to our colleagues about how good story in Indonesia, Purwanto hoped.
With 淭he Role of Youth to be Agents of Change for Community Empowerment as a theme, following the opening ceremony was an international seminar. The speakers were Director of Retail and Network PT. Pos Indonesia Ira Puspadewi, Senior Social Development Socialist of World Bank (Jakarta Office) Christopher Finch, World Bank (Jakarta Office) Alexander B. Setiaji and Dian Ekowati, SE., M.Si., M.AppCom(OrgCh)., Ph.D as moderator. (*)
