UNAIR NEWS “ 51¶¯Âþ students attend ASEAN + 3 Youth Cultural Forum at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta.In the forum which was held from October 31 to November 6, they joined 113 students from 22 universities in ASEAN region.
UNAIR sent four delegates in the forum.They were Fadhilah Intan Pramita Sari (2016 UNAIR Ambassador, Top 9 Rising Star Indonesia), Nadia Syifa Widjaksono (2016 BEM UNAIR), Michael Ivander (2016 Ambassador UNAIR), and Nisa Farahdila Trisianly (Hip Hop member).
The cultural exchange forum was organized by ASEAN University Network (AUN).For a week, various activities were organized in order to exchange culture, from discussions oncultural diplomacy,Javanese danceworkshops, to make Indonesian cultural products such as wayang and batik.
In a session, each participant of the 22 colleges featured their country’s distinctive culture.Delegates from UNAIR performed Saman dance from Aceh, Fadhilah sang accompanied by Michael with his violin.
The four delegations were very pleased to represent UNAIR in the ASEAN-level forum.In addition to gaining knowledge and networking, through the ASEAN + 3 Youth Cultural Forum, their eyes were opened again that one of Indonesia’s potential is its diverse culture.
“From the forum, we saw that differences can be advantages that can unite us all and they should bring drawbacks.Opening our eyes that Indonesia is very rich in culture, “said Fadhilah, a student of Communication Studies UNAIR.
Meanwhile, the topic of the discussion wascultural diplomacy, a way of resolving conflict in this era.
Fadhilah hoped that more UNAIR students will join similar forum because, that way, they also introduce Indonesia to the world about the potential that we have.
“We hope that UNAIR and other students can join the same thing to introduce Indonesia to the world that it has a very rich culture and has great potential to be introduced to the world,” said Fadhilah.(*)
