UNAIR NEWS “ In this digital era, various educational services inevitably has to adapt.ÌýThe internet era demands institutions to innovate in giving their services to users.ÌýThis is what 51¶¯Âþ library continues to do.

As of July, the entire digital library collections services can be accessedÌýonline, or commonly calledÌýe-resourcesÌý.ÌýThis service is a breakthrough to facilitate UNAIR™s academics in searching for references.

Last July, UNAIR library has replacedÌýProxyÌý²õ±ð°ù±¹±ð°ù²õÌý¾±²ÔÌýe-ResourcesÌý²õ²â²õ³Ù±ð³¾Ìý·É¾±³Ù³óÌý¸é±ð³¾´Ç³Ù±ð³Ý²õÌý.ÌýThis system change gives more benefits.

With the old server,ÌýProxyÌý, the library management has difficulty to get the users statistics.Ìý RemoteXsÌýalso has more features and is able to measure the level of access from availableÌý±ðÌý–Ìý¸é±ð²õ´Ç³Ü°ù³¦±ð²õÌý.

Ika Budianto as the coordinator of UNAIR library IT team said that the new server is able to know the activity of each faculty.ÌýIn addition to activeness, the server can also see in details who are accessing Ìýand downloading theÌýe-ÌýResourcesÌý.

Regarding the settings,ÌýRemoteXs isÌýable to assist the academics founding difficulty accessingÌý±ðÌý–Ìý¸é±ð²õ´Ç³Ü°ù³¦±ð²õÌýas they experienced before with theÌýProxyÌýserver. Not all the academic community members in UNAIR are technology literate so some still need assistance.

“The differences are found inÌýtheir settings.Ìý ProxyÌýsetting requires a different browser whileÌýfor RemoteXsÌý, users simply register and approvedÌýby the administrator they then Ìýare able to access the services without having to manage further settings, just directly access unair.remotexs.co, ” she added.

“Constraints continue to be identified such as when wrongly input UNAIR e-mail address, it will be rejected and not recognized.ÌýThe problem can be resolved face to face, ” she added.

Ika encouraged users to follow the flow of service in accordance with the newÌýAccess ±ðÌý–Ìý¸é±ð²õ´Ç³Ü°ù³¦±ð²õÌý, utilizing the availableÌý±ðÌý–Ìý¸é±ð²õ´Ç³Ü°ù³¦±ð²õÌýoptimally in a reasonable manner, so the migration of this facility becomes useful.ÌýAnother benefit, this migration is able to increase the actuality of publications.ÌýIn addition, she also hoped that the new service could beÌýbranding method of UNAIR to the wider community.

Ika also said that this e-Resources Access is given to all undergraduate, master and doctoral students.ÌýHowever, so far, the number of students who have registered is still limited to S2 and S3 students.

“S1(Bachelor™s degree) students sometimes still search from Google whose scientific level cannot be deemed accountable,” she said.

E-ÌýResourcesÌýcan now be accessed anywhere and anytime through , without having to come to UNAIR library directly.Ìý(*)
