UNAIR NEWS “Indonesian Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is talking with51¶¯Âþ.As the first agenda, both parties will conduct discussions related to the revitalization of the Merchant Shipping Tribunal under the management of Kemenhub.
“Clearly this collaboration will lead to the revitalization of the Merchant Shipping Tribunal.The revitalization will be in the form of institutional, duties and functional, as well as human resources, “said Chairman of the Merchant Shipping Tribunal Kemenhub Peni Pudji Turyanti when visiting Management Office Building of UNAIR, Monday, June 19.
During the visit, Peni who was accompanied by four officials of the Merchant Shipping Tribunal, was received by Vice Rector III UNAIR Prof.Ir.Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, Ph.D., and twoLaw.Radian Salman and Nilam Andalia Kurniasari, LL.M.
Peni said that the revitalization of the court was necessary to make the success of the Presidential program, Nawacita in the maritime sector.He acknowledged that this time the shipping tariff has limited capacity to handle domestic ship accident cases.
“So, many of the problems handling directed abroad because of the limitations of the merchant shipping tribunal.Hopefully, we can be amaritime courtlike in Singapore and England in terms of handling problems so the maritime axis more quickly realized, “added Peni.
According to the Chairman of the Merchant Shipping Tribunal, Ministry of Transportation RI, the existence of the Center for Maritime and Ocean Law Studies (MAROCLAW) FHwas the reason for the institution to choose UNAIR as a partner of collaborate.He hoped that the collaboration of Kemenhub with UNAIR which will last for three years can provide academic study that is useful for maritime in Indonesia.
“This is not just for the Merchant Shipping Tribunal only, but also for the Ministry of Transportation.Later this collaboration will also be utilized by the directorate who handles land, sea and rail transport.If we need more time, we will extend again, “said Peni.
He also hopes that academic texts compiled from various discussion group forums can be completed within the next three months.
The teacher and researcher of Maroclaw FH UNAIR, Nilam, said the preparation of the academic script will begin with discussions on the problems™ identification on merchant shipping tribunal.“There are some inconsistencies between some laws and regulations.This is what we will identify, “explained Nilam.
