UNAIR NEWS –听Kurnia Ramadhani or familiarly called Dhani is an alumna of Faculty of Public Health (FKM) graduated in 2009. Dhani is currently a Section Head of Health and Nursing Services at Tongas Hospital, Probolinggo.听Even so, her desire to learn does not just stop.听Dhani continues to develop her competence to foreign countries.
On September 2016, Dhani attended a听short course听titled听Local Economic Development听at Hague Academy for Local Governance, Netherlands.听At that time she was still working at Waluyo Jati Hospital, Probolinggo.听During the听short course听Dhani focused more on the development of听moringa or what we commonly known as Moringa leaves.
“Moringa leaves were selected because at that time RSUD Waluyo Jati was trying to become a hospital focusing on the use of Moringa leaves,” Dhani told听 UNAIR听NEWS.
Don’t stop at the Netherlands alone.听After being appointed Dhani as Head of Health and Nursing Services at Tongas Hospital, she continued to strive to improve听her leadership听skills.听One of the efforts that Dhani did was to take part in a leadership program entitled听Global Change Leaders听at Coady Institute, St.听Francis Xavier University, Antigonish City, Nova Scotia, Canada, from May to June 2018.
“The program focused more on听women leadership听so that all participants are women,” said Dhani.
The program was followed by only 25 selected participants from 22 countries in the world.听Dhani is the only delegation from Indonesia who participated in the program.
Not only taught about leadership matters, Dhani also learned about concern for climate change, the principles of听good governance听and other general matters.听In addition to studying in the classroom, Dhany was invited to visit the听women’s resource center of the听province and the听women’s resource center of the听city.
“In the听women resource center, we learned a lot of things.听Like how to deal with victims of violence against women from all aspects.听Both medical, economic and psychological, “said Dhani.
Many things happened while in Canada.听The most memorable experience for Dhani is during Ramadan.听She must fast and celebrate Eid al-Fitr not in her hometown.听The dawn time is the same as Indonesia, but the iftar time reached 9pm made the fasting felt longer.
“The most interesting thing is on Eid al Fitr.听We prayed in the public worship hall, one complex with the church,” she said.
It is not right to go far abroad without introducing Indonesian culture.听Therefore, when the graduation day arrived, Dhani performed a dance titled Galiyer dance.听The dance received a very good reception.
“In fact, there were guests who came to me to say thank you because he thought the dance was so beautiful that it made him very impressed,” she said.
Even though she returned Indonesia, Dhani’s assignment was not just finished.听She must make a new innovation.听So, on Tuesday, November 6 at Campus B UNAIR, Dhani came to visit Dr.听Ernawati, drg., M.Kes, who was her supervisor when she was in college and shared her experience while abroad.
To her juniors who are still in college, especially undergraduate students of Public Health (IKM), Dhani advised them to choose specialization in IKM S1 according to their own choice.听Because, many of them still confused about the future with their career.
“Whatever you choose should be based on your interest.听Because, in the future you can be more professional in that field.听Either in AKK (Administration and Health Policy, ed), health promotion, environmental health and other fields, ” she concluded.听(*)
