UNAIR NEWS Law Study and Human Rights center (HRLS) Faculty of Law, 51动漫 held a discussion about corporation and environmental damage at Meeting Room, Building C, on Tuesday (25/7)
This discussion was attended by at least 19 people from various institutions, such as Front Nadiyyin for Sovereignty of Natural Resources (FNKSDA) Surabaya, Law Study and Human Rights of Surabaya University, KPRI Jatim. Also the speakers for the discussion were Dr. Herlambang P. Wiratraman a chairman of HRLS Faculty of Law UNAIR and Franky Butar Butar, S.H.,M.Dev a lecturer of Faculty of Law 51动漫.
Herlambang said that there were many reasons why corporation and environmental damage became the main topic of discussion. The first reason was there was not just so little environmental destruction by corporation. Secondly, it all related to law aspects.
淭here is much massively environmental destruction in Indonesia, for example by the coming of corporation. There many Infestation in building corporation without considering about environmental. We would like to discuss about this case because it relate to law aspects. Wherever corporation there and environmental damage actually it can檛 be separated with license, both of corporations license and law enforcement when there may be environmental problems and so on, “he said.
Franky said that it also took regular supervision and penalties implication. There were three penalties, such as administration, law and economic penalty.
淭he supervision has to be conducted regularly, for example is unannounced visit. Because there were not few factories dispose the waste properly in the morning but improperly in the night because there was not supervision. Exactly, it also needs transparency. Usually, when an area would be build a factory, announcement only available in one day or the announcement paper put it in place that hard to find by local people. Penalties that can be applied are law, economic and administration penalty. By the administration penalty for example, it will never the legal license by local government, Said the alumni of Gadjah Mada University.
Through the discussion expecting public would more aware to the environment because environmental damage actually not only happen in rural area but also in urban area.
