UNAIR NEWS – In addition to attending Community Service Program – Learning Together with the Community (KKN-BBM) program, fifth semester students and above, spend their holiday break to follow Field Work Practice (PKL).Faculty of Vocational Studies also does the same.
For this even semester holiday in 2018, the D3 Library program Faculty of Vocational Studies sent 19 students to undergo field work practice in Malaysia.The 19 students are having an internship program in two partner universities, Universitas Teknologi Mara Malaysia (UiTM) and University Putra Malaysia (UPM).
Internship that has been done for the second time by D3 Library is conducted from July to August 2018. Nove E. Variant Anna one of the lecturers advising the PKL said that the students were enthusiastic in this program.
“Since overseas apprenticeship programs have been socialized, many are interested.Evidently, this year D3 Library dispatch 19 students where the previous year only 2 students, “said Nove.
The year of 2016 is a lucky year for D3 Library program because they get an opportunity to cooperate with several universities in Malaysia.They chose Malaysia as the destination for several reasons, it is inexpensive and in terms of language, it is easy to understand.
The purpose of the program, is realizing UNAIR’s vision as a World Class University and leading at international level in 2025.
“We also want to create the students’ awareness that the library field has evolved and to give them experience working at the international environment, “said Nove.
“The work experience includes the institutions / companies requirement, as well as work ethic.Thus, students can come prepared if they want to start a career abroad.Furthermore, if they want to develop libraries in Indonesia, they have many references, “said the lecturer of D3 Library.
Bella Malisa, one of the participants in UiTM shared her interesting experience in Malaysia.
“Educationculturehere highly upholds honesty.The interesting thing from the library is that it is allowed to carry bags and there is a caf茅 in the library.It is also allowed to sleep in the library in the green-marked zone with a polite position, ” added the fourth semester students.(*)
