Lively Atmosphere in International Students Welcoming Reception

UNAIR NEWS UNAIR through its International Office and Partnership (IOP) held an event, Welcoming Reception International Student 2016, on Friday, September 23. There were 102 international freshmen from the bachelor, master and doctoral program also from AMERTA program of UNAIR gathered in Kahuripan 300 Hall, Management Office Building UNAIR. It was held to welcome them as UNAIR students.

Every year, there is always a welcoming session like this for freshmen. This time, some of them will present a performance by singing Surabaya song, and we will present a keroncong musical performance to introduce our traditional arts to the international students, said Mochamad Jalal, as thecoordinator for International Serviceof IOP.

It was opened by Vice Rector I, Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM. In his address, Prof. Djoko encouraged the students to keep working and giving their best for the alma mater.

In the beginning of the event, the freshmen also sang Indonesia Raya and Airlangga Hymn. Furthermore, they enjoyed the performance of Keroncong Group and Saman Dance from UNAIR students.

One of the students from Thailand, Paween Rungtaweechai said that she was amazed with the warm welcome from UNAIR. The student taking International Relations master program through KNB (Special for Developing Country) admitted that she was glad that she could be part of the university.

I am very glad that I could be accepted here in UNAIR as it was my first choice. I hope I could be friends with the other international students and local students of UNAIR for sharing, said Paween. (*)
