UNAIR NEWS – Ayyub Husin, a student of Management Program class 2013 is currently lying in hospital due to Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS).听In addition to Ayyub, Bella Nanda Stevanie student of the same program is also currently being treated due to tuberculosis.听Both of them need a great deal of money for their treatment.
A sense of caring and empathy encouraged the Management Student Association of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) (UNAIR) to raise funds.听From Monday morning, February 12, HIMA Manajemen held a music performance, Musik Lorong, entitled “Music For CharityDay”, held at student’s graha krida park, FEB UNAIR.听Although it was initiated by HIMA Management, this activity is also supported by other HIMA performance in FEB.
One of the event committee Yudhistira Anugerah Pratama said that this initiation is the result of discussion with the lecturers.听It has been done before, when there are students or lecturers with difficulty, they held a fundraising through music performance.听It is considered to be more effective than raising funds to classes whose scope is only limited to one department.
“Alhamdulillah, this event is responded well by all elements such as HIMA, students, and also lecturers,” said Yudhistira.
Yudhistira said that from the fundraising, they collected Rp 14,706,400.听The funds will be provided to support their outpatient costs.听As for medical expenses, approximately 230 million have been obtained from听.
“May the aid sufficient for outpatient treatment for four months.听In the future, hopefully such fund-raising will be more frequent and varied, “hoped Yudhistira.
Not only the music performance, there were also brief explanations about GBS and tuberculosis by UNAIR young doctors, Hilmy Farhan, Yusuf Samudera, Rendra Dwi Putra, and Hendry Setiawan.听In addition, the latest condition of Ayyub and Bella was also informed.
Their condition have shown improvement.听Ayyub was able to smile, while Bella is having outpatient treatment and in the healing period.
“Patients with GBS initially experienced paralysis.听As happened to Ayyub, his hand cannot be moved, “said Rendra Dwi Putra, one of the young doctors.
In addition to GBS, Hilmy also educated the audience on how to cough properly, ie by using the right arm or mask to avoid transmission of tuberculosis.听He also explained the symptoms of TB that should be considered for prevention efforts.
“When you cough up phlegm for 2 weeks, sweating at night, and weight decreases steadily, then these symptoms should be considered,” said Hilmy.听(*)
