UNAIR NEWS As an effort to develop students character, Compulsory University Course (MKWU) team held another Study Excursie, or known as SE. This time, the topic of the annual event was 淜ejayaan Sejarah Bangsa dalam Membangun Kehidupan Kebhinekaan dan Wawasan Kebangsaan (Nation檚 Historical Glory in Developing Life with Kebhinekaan and Nationalism). Kediri was chosen as the location for this year檚 Study Excursie, it was because it has strong historical values in history, culture, tourism, and religion unity.
淜ediri was an old city which left many historical values of heroism during period of kingdoms. There is heroism traces we can learn there, said Listiyono Santoso, S.S., M.Hum., during briefing and technical meeting SE 2016 on Wedneday, May 11.
According to the MKWU lecturer, SE is held in order to internalize nation檚 characters. It does not only happen in a classroom, but also through experiences on site. SE is expected to develop social harmony.
Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Sp.PD-KGH., Ph.D., FINASIM., as Vice Rector I UNAIR said that SE is the real experience as students will interact directly with life of the locals in Kediri.
淚t is a study of life. It doesn檛 stop there, our nation檚 foundation should have strong characters, said Prof. Djoko.
In SE location later, students will conduct observation in some places such as Mount Kelud Museum, Joyoboyo檚 Tomb Complex, Kamandanu Lake, and Tegowangi Temple. Participants will also visit Simpang Lima Gumul, and Tebu Ireng Islamic Boarding school, Jombang.
There are 262 students from UNAIR faculties to join this year檚 SE. Twenty-five of them are students from AMERTA UNAIR program who were mostly from Malaysia. (*)
