UNAIR NEWS –淚f I was given opportunity to go to college, I promise I will not merely graduate, her promise to her mother. She is graduated with GPA 3.88 to fulfill her promise as she was named as the best graduate of FISIP UNAIR.
For her, she never thought of going to college in this best university. Her parents financial condition caused her to work as factory worker in Mojokerto. For the 17 years old girl at that time, it was not her best moment in life. After two years stopped studying, her spirit brought her the best path, her father was cured from his illness and she started to build her dreams again, to study at college.
Being a student of Information and Library Sciences of FISIP UNAIR made her feel lost, but in a right way. At first she could not understand well with the program she took but she found her passion there later on. She learned a lot of things and Amelia could rise from her hopelessness from poverty.
淏y reading and learning, I really hope that there will be no more Indonesian young generation who would work hard as what I have been through, said Lia. She received educational aid from Bidik Misi program.
Beside going to classes, she was active in some activities and made achievements. Amelia has made it to build a reading community park 淧OCER in her village, Janti of Papar, Kediri. She was serious in developing reading habit despite being underestimated. She is now glad that she can be more than herself in the past. Her parents struggle was her main motivation for Amelia to fight and bring benefits to others.
淚 will do anything to make my father and mother happy. I went to college for them and be the best graduate also for them, said Amelia. (*)
