UNAIR NEWS 51动漫 will be a venue for The 6迟丑听ASEAN Event Series 淏ridges Dialogue For A Culture Of Peace. The event held on February 20, 2017 will invite the main speaker who was awarded a Nobel Prize for Economics, Prof. Robert. F. Engle III.
For the event preparation, International Peace Foundation (IPF) visited UNAIR on Thursday, June 16. The chairman of IPF, Uwe Morawetz and the Director of the Program, Daniel Bednarik made the visit. The group was welcomed by UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak, with other officials in his room, Management Office Building UNAIR.
In his address, Prof. Nasih introduced UNAIR to the IPF delegation. Then they discussed the event preparation lead by Uwe and then they discussed some agreements on the 淏ridges implementation.
Beside discussing the event檚 technical aspects and preparation, Uwe and Daniel also visited some locations in UNAIR such as Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) and Garuda Mukti Hall in Campus C.
Vice Retor III term 2010-2015 who is now the Secretary of UNAIR Board of Autonomy Development, Prof. Soetjipto, dr., MS, Ph.D, said that 淏ridges is an event initiated by IPF to support peace and scientific projects of universities and institution related to the research of conflict prevention and solution strategy. 淏ridges also directed to promote peace campaign, understanding, and social exchanges between community, culture and tradition.
It is a routine event and has been held since 2003 by IPF. The countries held it before were Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Singapore. In 2017, it will be held in Indonesia and one of the venues is UNAIR. There will be a public lecture and an interactive talk show.
Prof. Engle is one of the world economists awarded a Nobel prize for Economics in 2003. With his colleague, Clive Granger, he created a method for analyzing economic time series with time-varying volatility. At the moment, Prof. Engle is teaching at Stern School of Business, New York University.

At UNAIR, Prof. Engle will give a public lecture titled 淭he Prospect for Global Financial Stability inACC. The lecture will be held with a talk show which invited the Governor of Bank Indonesia and Chairul Tanjung, a successful businessman in Indonesia and UNAIR professor on Entrepreneurship.
According to Prof. Nasih, the topic of discussion to be presented by the nobel prize winner was right and relevant with Indonesian economic problems. He hoped that it will not only be an international event for UNAIR but also be a place to discuss economic stability especially in East Java.
淭his international event should be handled with care because UNAIR will be under the spotlight to be trusted and acknowledged by the world. Preparations should be made well to retain UNAIR reputation, said Prof. Nasih. (*)
