Polish Professor Dedicates 33 Years of Life for UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS– Deep sorrow seen from hundreds of people at Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) 51动漫 on Saturday afternoon, September 1. The memorial service of Professor Emeritus FISIP UNAIR Prof.Dr.Habil Josef Glinka, SVD., was attended by academicians of UNAIR, family, priests and nuns, as well as Catholic students.

For approximately 33 years, the Polish professor of physical anthropology has dedicated himself as a lecturer, anthropologist, scientist, and missionary.The memorial service in FISIP UNAIR was attended by hundreds of mourners, both from lecturers, student employees, and from the Catholic congregation of Surabaya.

“We are proud and grateful, Prof. Glinka has taken part in participating in educating the nation.He once said he wastired oftaking care of UNAIR, invited friends at the Polisi Istimewa to pray.‘You are a missionary.Whatever the circumstances must remain faithful’.So he faithfully devoted himself to education at UNAIR until the end of his life, “recalled Father Didik in his remarks representing the family.

Didik continued, as a scientist and missionary, Prof.Glinka once said that missionaries are not about religion, but more to love the universe.“He was someone who studies, researches and does everything with love, and without considering their religion.Religion is only a piece of paper from a big book of God miracle, ” he explained.

He also said that one of Prof.Glinka’s wills was making Glinka Foundation scholarship institution.The scholarship institution is for students, especially physical anthropology.

The only professor of physical anthropology from Prof. Glinka’s apprenticeship was Prof.Dra.Myrtati Dyah Artaria, MA, Ph.D.Prof. Myrta was seen shedding tears in the occasion.There was deep sorrow seen from her face as with Dra., Toetik Koesbardiati, Ph.D., she was the first students of UNAIR anthropology who has been devoted to UNAIR until now.

“His message will be carried out, which is to continue the anthropology at UNAIR.That’s his dream with Adi Sukadana, “said Prof.Myrta.

“One day the professor had time to argue, did we have to move to Faculty of Medicine?But that is not in accordance with the dream of Prof. Glinka and Adi Sukadana.Because the goal is to unite cultural anthropology and physical anthropology.That’s where we can understand about humans, “added Prof.Myrta

On that occasion, Prof.Myrta also advised all FISIP students and lecturers, especially anthropology, to develop UNAIR anthropology.As UNAIR anthropology which has a physical and cultural department is the only one in Indonesia.

Polish Ambassador to Indonesia Beata Stoczynska also attended the memorial service.He claimed to be happy and proud, a Polish citizen had devoted himself to the development of science and education in Indonesia, especially UNAIR.

“I’m happy to be here.I think he (Prof. Glinka, ed) was very happy in Indonesia, let alone living as a researcher, “said Stoczynska.

Meanwhile, Dean of FISIP , Falih Suhaedi, said that he and all members of the community had lost an inspiring figure with calm perspective on science.

“Today, almost all academics from all faculties are here.It shows Prof.Glinka is an academic source.We must maintain his contribution because there are two inheritance, the knowledge and the students areexcellent, “said Suhaedi.
