The current pandemic situation has caused people to purchase drugs to protect and treat health problems they are experiencing without visiting a health worker. This has the potential to cause the public not to receive sufficient and correct information about the drugs used. In addition, improper and excessive purchasing of drugs and inappropriate storage can harm health and the environment. Therefore, the Community Service Team of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University, is working together with the Airlangga Pharmacy Pharmacy, which is an educational pharmacy owned by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University, to make efforts to empower the surrounding community in managing household medicines properly and correctly.
This activity involved Pharmacy Ambassadors and Pharmacist Profession Students at 51动漫 and was held for one full week from 7-12 November 2022 in the form of an open house for the Airlangga Pharmacy Pharmacy. This activity was also enlivened by a competition to design a pharmacy logo which will be officially used as the new pharmacy logo on its 25th anniversary in 2023.
The educational media used is in the form of a 2023 calendar and contains 12 kinds of information about the management of various forms of drugs commonly used by the public. The twelve types of dosage forms include: Eye drops for children and adults, nose drops, nasal sprays, eye ointments, skin ointments, syrups, drops, enemas, suppositories, mouthwashes, and effervescent tablets. The information presented is in the form of how to use it correctly, how to store it, and how long the preparation can be stored. It is hoped that this media can be used as a guide for good drug management by the community because it can still be read at any time during one calendar year.
The community involved in the open house activity was 62 visitors to the pharmacy and were very enthusiastic about participating in the activity. With this community service activity, people’s knowledge about managing medicines at home can be increased so that they can independently manage their medicines properly. Besides that, it can also help maintain the stability and security of stored drugs. Furthermore, they hope that this kind of activity can be continued with other activities, including helping the community identify the suitability of medicines that are already stored at home. So that it can continue to provide benefits in the correct management of drugs in the household.
