
The Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University (FF UNAIR) is known as the Faculty of Pharmacy with the best reputation in Indonesia. Based on this year’s QS Ranking for Higher Education, Airlangga University achieved a ranking of 308 in the world with the Faculty of Pharmacy being ranked 301-350 in the world for the subject of Pharmacy and Pharmacology. In improving this reputation, educators at the Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR continue to collaborate with experts and researchers from all over the world, as carried out by Prof. apt. Rr. Retno Widyowati, M.Sc., PhD. This year he held research collaborations with colleagues from abroad, some of them with Osaka University from Japan, Nanjing University from China and Prince of Songkla University from Thailand.
Research collaboration with Osaka University, specifically with the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, using the International Research Consortium (IRCON) scheme, this year Prof. Retno with Prof. Masayoshi Arai developed a drug that has anti-osteoarthritis properties from natural ingredients. Not only with Japan, Prof. Retno also carried out research collaborations focusing on the development of anti-osteoarthritis with Prof. Yiwei Wang from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicines China with the same scheme, namely IRCON, what differs from the research with these three colleagues is the type of plant studied. Apart from IRCON, Prof. Retno also used the International Research Collaboration (IRC) scheme in her collaboration with Dr. rer. nat. Sukanya Dej-adisai from Prince of Songkhla University Thailand. Similar to other research, collaboration with Dr. Dej-adisai also develops natural medicines for osteoarthritis, a disease experienced by many elderly people throughout the world.
This research collaboration is proof of the reputation of UNAIR Faculty of Pharmacy researchers in making contributions to knowledge and world society through research with colleagues from abroad.
