FH UNAIR Hosts the 17th IHL MCC: Inaugurates Exhibition on International Humanitarian Law

The Faculty of Law, 51动漫 (FH UNAIR) hosted the 17th International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition (IHL MCC) this year. IHL MCC is an international moot court competition on international humanitarian law. International humanitarian law is a set of rules that seek to limit the effects of armed conflict and protect people from war.

FH UNAIR collaborated with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to support the 17th IHL MCC implementation, which consisted of several series of events. Namely online workshops, which were held on 29 October 2022; Opening Ceremony online on 5 November 2022; Preliminary Rounds on 12 – 13 November 2022; Opening Ceremony Exhibition offline on 16 November 2022; and Advanced Rounds, which will be held on 19 – 20 November 2022. Apart from these events, an exhibition will be held on 16 – 30 November 2022 in Building A FH UNAIR. The IHL MCC Exhibition contains photos from the ICRC and banners containing information about international humanitarian law, such as the contents of the 1949 Geneva Convention, the contents of the 1977 Two Additional Convention, the contents of the 1899 Hague Convention, and so on, which are the works of FH UNAIR students.

The offline Opening Ceremony Exhibition of IHL MCC, which was held on Wednesday (16/11/2022) in the lobby of Building A FH UNAIR, was attended by the IHL MCC committee, lecturers from the International Law Section of FH UNAIR, and FH UNAIR students. Prof. Koesrianti, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D. opened the IHL MCC Opening Ceremony Exhibition by presenting the keynote speech.

“We finally officially opened the IHL exhibition. This is a good opportunity for us FH UNAIR, because this is the first time UNAIR has hosted IHL MCC. This is also a great opportunity for students to gain as much experience as possible. Good luck to the team and committee,” said Prof. Koesrianti.

The ceremonial event continued with remarks from Vice Dean I FH UNAIR, Dr. Enny Narwati, S.H., M.H. He expressed his gratitude because the series of events of The 17th IHL MCC could be held smoothly.

“This exhibition is the 17th series of IHL MCC events. From the results of the National Rounds, we will go to Hong Kong if we win. And in fact, we won 1st place in the IHL MCC National Rounds several years ago, then went to Hong Kong. In 2021 yesterday, we also won II IHL MCC. In the series of IHL MCC events, previously, there were several activities such as workshops via Zoom, ICRC’s book launch event, and today we have an exhibition. This is the result of our hard work. Extraordinary. This is the first time after the pandemic that IHL MCC can be held offline again, and FH UNAIR is the right host. Happy working and happy working. Success for all of us,” he said.

Thus, Dr. Enny closed her remarks, and the IHL MCC exhibition was officially opened.
