Law students are certainly no strangers to legal opinions. Law students must be able to provide legal arguments in a structured manner by making legal opinions or legal opinions.
The Delegation of the Faculty of Law, 51动漫 (FH UNAIR) won the national-level legal opinion competition organized by the University of 17 August 1945 Semarang on 25 September 2022 – 6 November 2022. The delegation consisted of two teams that won the 1st Runner Up Winner consisting of Wanda Farda Wahdini (2019), Aqil Kamaluddin (2019), and Fithrotul Ainiah (2019), as well as the second runner-up consisting of Rahardian Satya Mandala Putra (2019), Iqbal Fauzurrahman (2020), and Althof Bakiel Anra (2020).
Through an interview with FH News on Wednesday (23/11/2022), representatives of the delegation, Iqbal and Fithrotul explained that the legal opinion competition was part of the Untag Law Festival 2022. The festival’s theme was “Millennial Existence in Building a Nation Based on Positive Legal Awareness in Indonesia ”. Iqbal said the UNAIR FH delegation team was divided into two groups: the FH UNAIR Student Executive Body (BEM), who won Runner Up II, and the delegation from Moot Court Community (KPS) FH UNAIR, who won First Runner Up.
“Indeed, each of us sent its delegation,” said Iqbal.
Iqbal explained that this year’s Untag Law Festival has only created a legal opinion competition branch, which is similar to legal opinion competitions held by other agencies.
“Maybe if the characteristics are emphasized here on young people’s contribution,” added Fithrotul.
Fithrotul and Iqbal said that this was the first time they had participated in a competition in college. According to them, occasionally participating in competitions improves personal abilities.
“Apart from sending legal opinion files, in this competition, we, the finalists, were also asked to present our legal opinion. During the presentation, there were three judges. One jury may ask up to three questions. Thank God, everything was passed,” said Fithrotul.
Iqbal added that they also experienced difficulties during the technical meeting due to technical changes, but luckily everything went smoothly. His team’s preparation, continued Iqbal, lasted for about three weeks. Their team uses a criminal law approach, international conferences, and other principles in making their legal opinion. The weight of the assessment on the legal opinion file itself continued Iqbal, is greater than the weight of the presentation of the legal opinion file, so they arranged it in the best way possible.
In closing, Iqbal and Fithrotul conveyed their impressions of their message while participating in the Untag Law Festival 2022 competition. Fithrotul explained that the competition committee was very friendly. Apart from that, according to him, the match was also fun and very young people because it included freedom of speech.
“In my opinion, some experiences can be gained through competitions that cannot be obtained through other activities such as participating in organizations and so on. Cooperation, and thoroughness, in my opinion, can only be obtained during preparation for the competition. My message to all of you is never to be afraid to take part in competitions,” concluded Iqbal.
