Representing Indonesia, Prof. Emy Susanti Invited to be A Speaker at the 2022 Asia Pacific Global Meeting Forum in Singapore Ìý

SURABAYA | HUMAS “ 51¶¯Âþ (Unair) Was one of the universities invited to the 2022 Asia Pacific Global Meeting in early December in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Organized by The British Council, the event is a discussion forum presenting representatives from several universities worldwide. Unair, together with other campuses such as the University of Gadjah Mada, University of North Sumatera, and Bina Nusantara University, are Indonesia’s college delegacies.ÌýIn a discussion with the title œAddressing Violence Against Women within the Higher Education Sector, Prof. Dr. Emy Susanti, MA,Ìýa lecturer of Sociology major in Unair got the chance to presentÌýher thoughts in front of the invited guests. Ìý

œI was called because we (Unair) Have a project related to the prevention and handling the sexual harassment in universities, said Prof. Emy. This collaboration project with Aston University investigates five campuses in Surabaya and is directly funded by The British Council. œHowever, before that, I received a task from Kemendikbudristek (Indonesia™s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology) to do similar research, the difference is in the respondent because the project was for throughout Indonesia, she added. In the research team, Prof. Emy becomes the coordinator of 36 universities with five thousand or more respondent data. This decision has something to do with Unair’s existence nowadays as the Leader of the Association of Study Center of Gender and Child of Indonesia. That™s why Prof. Emy was able to get the chance to be invited by The British Council to a similar interactive forum.Ìý

œWhat I presented was about our ideas to establish work, networking throughout the world, especially with the presented countries in order to solve the discussed issues, she explained. However, before moving on to the explanation of policy recommendation, this professor of Gender Sociology admitted that Indonesia is one step ahead in dealing with the sexual harassment case in universities. It is proven by the Permendikbud Ristek RI No. 30 (Indonesia™s policy). The guests were enthusiastic about the progress that Indonesia made. Ìý

œWhile we are already registered in Asia Pacific Global Forum™s network, I think we need to use this chance properly because we also establish work with them and with other countries yesterday, she said. Returning from the event, each representative of the countries exchanges their cooperation discourse related to the gender and sexual harassment issue. Ìý
