SURABAYA | HUMAS On Wednesday (26/09/2023) The 11th episode of FISIP UNAIR X Mercury FM The Series is back with its Social Political Dialogue talk show agenda with the title Get to Know UNAIR Political Science Bachelor Program. This episode invited Ucu Martanto S.IP., M.A. as the Department Secretary and teacher in the Political Science Department of 51 as the speaker.
In this talk show, Ucu Martanto S.IP., M.A explained about Political Science major in Unair. Ucu said that Political Science Department has updated its curriculum in 2021, which already become a routine activity every five years to reflect on knowledge, and the conditions of national and global political developments, and pay attention to the needs of alumni and alumni users. Ucu also explained that with the new curriculum, Political Science Department could find new learning methods to adapt to the current digital era.
To support its student in this digital era, the Political Science major released some new subjects for its student to learn, we introduce these new subjects such as digital politics which was a little bit different from the conventional method, in this subject the students learn how the government nowadays make policy based on not only public opinion but also peoples input through social media, said Ucu. The current digital era has made the Political Science Department also provide injection for lecturers so that they can keep up with the teaching process with the latest curriculum.
Ucu added that in the new curriculum, four specializations never existed before: political institutions, parties and elections, justice issues, and local politics. The Political Science Department also proclaimed their alumnus to fulfill five main profiles which are developing the community by becoming a social activist, serving as an academic who has a basic knowledge of politics, to occur as a politician with strong political ethics, becoming a political consultant or observer in this political shift era, and lastly is to be the part of government relation with skills to liaise between the government and the private party.
The Political Science Department UNAIR opens various ways and KIP-K scholarships for students who are less well-off financially so the opportunity to enter is wide open for everyone. As the Department Secretary, Ucu said, our hope in the future is that politics can be learned without bias, without looking at the economic strata so everyone has the same opportunity to learn about politics,
