UNAIR NEWS To boosts university檚 rank in the world, scientific journal publication which is internalionally indexed is needed. UNAIR through Scientific Publication and Journal Development Center (PPJPI) is making great efforts to be a world class university.
PPJPI UNAIR then inspired to hold a workshop related to internationalization journals through DOAJ and Scopus indexing organization on Friday, July 22. It was held in Kahuripan Hall 301, Management Office Building UNAIR and attended by 48 journals managements in UNAIR. It invited Dr. Istadi, S.T., M.T, Chief Editor of 淏ulletin of Chemical Reaction Engineering & Catalysis Journal of Universitas Diponegoro as the speaker.
淚t was directly led by a chief editor of Indonesian journal which has already Scopus indexed. It檚 more to the application, with direct evaluation of each journal preparation, one by one requirement is checked, which one has fulfilled and which one hasn檛, said Dr. Prihartini Widiyanti, drg., M.Kes, as the Head of PPJPI.
Through the workshop, Prihartini Widiyanti better known as Yanti hoped that the journal candidates which have been evaluated regarding indexing preparation can be Scopus indexed soon, even though the international indexing organization has some complicated requirements.
淏eing Scopus indexed is quite difficult so I do not set a high target as the process itself is not instant, she said.
But for this year, Yanti expects there will be 8 journals to be DOAJ indexed. The eight journals will be guided by PPJPI to be indexed soon. 淥ur eight journals are expected to be DOAJ indexed because it is a step away from being Scopus indexed, so it is a requirement we need to fulfill towards Scopus, she explained.
Yanti added that beside complicated requirements, the system implemented by UNAIR journals managements should also be transformed. The journals management used to manage through pronted system. With the technological advancement, they are expected to implement OJS (Open Journal System) version.
淭he preparation process needs time as it is not an instant process for journals managements, they used to be in printed version but now we are taking them to OJS version, she said. (*)
