Prof. Amin initiates Smart Biotechnopreneurship Innovation

UNAIR NEWS– After carrying out the mandate as 51动漫 Vice Rector for Research and Development (2015-2020), Prof.听Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, Ir., M.Si., Ph.D.听returned to serve the faculty as Dean of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences UNAIR for 2020-2025.听Previously, in 2009-2015 Prof. Amin was Vice Dean of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences UNAIR.

His career started when he worked in a pond in Situbondo, then moved to Banyuwangi after graduation.听In 1994, Prof. Amin became 13th lecturer at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) UNAIR.听He then continued his Masters at Brawijaya University in the end of 2000 with a JSPS (Japan Society for Promotion Science)scholarshipat SugashimaMarine Biological Laboratory.听His research topic was exploration of marine resources, especially sea snakes, taking the protein from their venom to prevent cancer and Alzheimer’s.

Prof. Amin then continued his doctorate at Nagasaki University in the field of marine resource utilization in 2002. Then, he was named Professor on Seaweed by studying the active ingredients of several types of seaweed to preventRed Tide Diseases.

SmartBiotechnopreneurship Innovation

Regarding the future development strategy and inspiration for Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Prof. Amin initiates the Smart Biotechnopreneurship Innovation program, a six strategy package. The first is reinforcement of a healthy organization.

“This reinforcement isof human resources, international standard governance, and infrastructure,” he said.

Second, expanding the Global Networking for Global Partnership.听Third, optimizing knowledge on entrepreneurial abilities.听Entrepreneur-based courses are developedso that students are able to createstart-upsin the marine fisheries sector, especially for undergraduate and master檚 degrees.

“Aquaculture undergraduate program has been accredited by ASIIN, the achievement must be of international standard.听Then, aim for aresearchcenterfor funding by actively cooperating withoverseasexperts, as well as community service collaboration with international standards, “he said.

Fourth, focus on choosing credible opportunities to achieve targets in accordance with UNAIR competences. Fifth, exploring the potential of the faculty, and sixth, managing systems and teams to achieve main goals.

National Best and International Targets

Prof. Amin aims FPK UNAIR to become The Big Five Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences in Indonesia and the QS World University Rankings by Subject.听According to him, an improvement inintellectualcapitalis neededto make FPK reach Top 5 Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences in Indonesia andQS World University Rankings by Subject, accredited A by BAN-PT and acknowledged by international academic associations.

The fast-paced digitalization requires a collaborative program between industries in the multinational arena called theIndustry-Academia Collaboration Program (IACP).听Later, it will become thebackbone forenriching the student learning process.

“Later we willlink&matcha strong relationship with multinational companies in the marine fisheries sector,” explained Prof.听Amin.

“It includes optimizing the achievements ofMarine Stationas theteaching industryandstart up business incubator.听And, continuing the internship program that all FPK UNAIR students usually do, “he added.

Fishery Business Program

Prof.听Amin sees fishery-based micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and exporters in Indonesia need to be improved through theFisheries Business School(FBS).听Providing insight on Digital Marketing,entrepreneur finance, consumer behavior understanding, and intellectual property law are very necessary in preparing graduates.听Prof. Amin also pursues the establishment of a new program inFisheries Businesswith an MBA qualification (equivalent to a Masters in Management).

“It檚 possible to be realized in the 5th or 10th year,” he said.

“It’s still being studied first, looking at the Fishery Business system in America, Moscow, India and Norway.听Hopefully graduates can be involved in the fisheries business, both with a significant contribution in the government and private sector, then we can declare the FBS, ” he hoped.听(*)
