UNAIR NEWS –Utilization of environmental preservation-based natural resources was discussed in a talk show in the Professors™ Innovation Exposition held by 51¶¯Âþ Information and Public Relations Center (PIH) on Thursday, July 27.
In the event, the three professors who shared his expertise were Prof.Dr.Herry Agoes Hermadi, drh., M.Si (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine), Prof.Dr.Agoes Soegianto, Ir., DEA (Faculty of Science and Technology), and Prof.Dr.HJ Mukono, dr., MS., MPH (Faculty of Public Health).
Prof.Agoes described about Ecotoxicology.He explained that the study of ecotoxicology is really needed by the government in making environmental policy.However, this study is not well developed in Indonesia.
Regarding environmental preservation, Prof.Herry showed his innovation on cow’s stomach (rumen) which is used as Aras branded biofermentor.Apparently, the lecturer of FKH was eager to contribute in solving environmental problems.
Such method can also be utilized by slaughterhouses to be reprocessed into animal feed or biofermentor.
“In one day, the butchers could slaughter about a hundred cows.Unexpectedly, this disposable blood can be developed into animal feed economic value, “Prof. Herry added.He has published a study entitled “Conversation Impact on Molecular Gentic Changes on Java Green Peacock (Pavo musticus)” in the journal Environment and Conversation Ecology.
Presenting speakers from various disciplines, Prof.Mukono discusses the impacts of climate change on human health and the efforts that must be done.He said the current natural damage, such as climate change and global warming are caused by human activities.
“The impacts of climate change have led to the emergence of various diseases.Water and food also trigger the emergence of disease.Great efforts needed to damage the nature and environment, “said the professor of FKM.
It was attended by academicians, practitioners, policy makers and journalists to give insight.The event was UNAIR’s commitment to innovate to respond to environmental issues.(*)
