UNAIR NEWS –HRD Faculty of Psychology Student Executive Board (BEM FPsi UNAIR) together with LIA English held aworkshopand simulation ”Your Chance to Learn and Practice English Better!“on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at FPsi Hall in .The activity aims to train participants to work on TOEFL test.
Dhanti Praptikorastri, S.Kom, MM., as the speaker from LIA English said that in working on TOEFL, there were several things that must be considered.There are strategies to work on material as well as strategies before facing the TOEFL test itself.
“Wetalk aboutstrategy in general, the most important thing is to prepare yourself, stay calm, and we must be physically fit,” she said.
Dhanti explained the strategy in general such as making preparation, staying calm, and being physically fit.For her, physical health is very important so participants can calmly work on the questions, and stay calm, especially duringlistening session.
Furthermore, Dhanti also explained the prioritized strategy of working on the test, time management.According to her, everyone has their own way to work on the test and different strategy.
“We know that everyone does it differently.Some listen first, some see the problem first.The most important thing is how tomanagetime, ” she said.
Dhanti also shared some tips in making preparation for the TOEFL test, self-habituation and lots of practice.
For her, practices are very important so they will not be surprised during test.That way, the examinees can easily understand the questions.Therefore, Dhanti hoped that these tips students will not feel panic and able to prepare themselves well.
English is a universal and international language, especially for ASEAN Community Era. People from various countries can easily enter Indonesia and vice versa.
TOEFL has been a requirement forstudent exchangeand work affairs.Therefore, there are institutions which demand TOEFL certificates for admission and graduation requirements. (*)
