UNAIR NEWS “Another great achievement was made by two Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG) students.They are Kadek Gede Putra Wibawa and Fianza Rezkita.They won second place in the national scientific writing competition titled Moestopo Dentistry Scientific Program (MDS-Pro).MDS-Pro was held on 22-23 March 2019 at University of Prof.Dr.Moestopo, Jakarta.
The team supervised by Dr.Retno Pudji Rahayu, drg., M.Kes., conducted a study on TNF-α expression after administration ofGardenia Jasminoides extractin the post-extraction wound healing process.In the study, it was found that Gardenia Jasminoidesgelcan reduce inflammatory response to wound healing by reducing the number of TNF-α.
“Our lecturer is from Department of Oral Pathology and Maxillofacial, so theresearch is about plant extracts,” said Fianza.
Not only accompanied by their lecturer, Fianza acknowledged that the research conducted by his team was also assisted by one of their seniors in FKG, Radithya Ardhi Sradhana.
Meanwhile, Kadek added that his team took part in two categories in MDS-Pro, theresearchcategoryand theliterature reviewcategory.
“In this competition, we submitted two works in two different categories of competition.Both of them managed to qualify for the final round but only one won, “said Kadek.
Kadek and Fianza managed to advance to MDS-Pro final after passing the abstract selection and named the ten best teams.The ten teams then sent afull paper and made a presentation before the judges.
In the final round, Kadek and Fianza must compete with teams from various universities in Indonesia, such as University of Indonesia, Brawijaya University, Padjajaran University, Jember State University, Hasanuddin University, Sriwijaya University, Andalas University, Jenderal Sudirman University, and University of Prof.Dr.Moestopo as the host.
In the MDS-Pro final, FKG UNAIR sent a delegation of four teams, consists of threeliterature reviewteams and aresearchteammembered by Kadek and Fianza.(*)
