UNAIR NEWS Various challenges faced by the society always have put forward global education as the solution. Global education system enables students to continue their studies in other counties with various academic funding.
This global education even opens up great opportunity if the administrations commit to support educational collaboration in each country. The U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia, Joseph R. Donovan said that he is committed to improve Indonesian-American relations in Education.
In presence of 51动漫檚 students, the ambassador delivered a public lecture entitled 淯nited States of America and Indonesia Partnership, Tackling Global Challenges with Global Education, Wednesday, March 1, in Aula Kahuripan 300, Donovan affirmed his commitment to improve student mobility from Indonesia to the U.S.A.
At the moment, there are 9,000 Indonesian students studying in the United States. By 2020, he targets about 15,000 people to study there in the U.S.A.
The increase is expected to give positive impact to the public, especially students because the more students studying abroad, the more students gaining experience. They can also learn about heterogeneity.
淚n my opinion, a student learning in the U.S will gain unique experience. When you learn well, you檒l get quality. You can also learn about the good and bad of the U.S. and tell the story about the U.S. citizen to Indonesian people, said Donovan.
Donovan who used to be the advisor of foreign affairs of Pentagon, said that global education can overcome any global challenges such as the issues of tolerance, health and other problems as the opportunity to student exchange program is even greater.
淲e must face challenges to deal with the radicals, extremist group. We must also deal with the global issues in health such as infectious disease and other problems. You must be able to mention five or ten challenges. As time goes on, you will learn a lot of things, then you檒l understand that they are actually connected, he said, he said.
