UNAIR NEWS揜ector of UniversitasAirlangga Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, S.E., M.T., Ak affirmed 6,726 bachelor and vocational freshmen on Thursday August 18. It was attended by Ignasius jonan, UNAIR alumnus of 1982. Jonan gave a lecturer to motivate the freshmen.
淭oday is the same day with a day I was affirmed in UNAIR, 34 years ago, on the same date in 1982, he said followed with an applause of the freshmen.
The Minister of Transportation 2014-2016 motivated them to use their time wisely as students. In the occasion, Jonan shared some tips to the freshmen. 淒on檛 learn something you don檛 need. Focus on the program you chose and don檛 think about dates too much, said Jonan followed with freshmen檚 laughter.
淎lways use your morality anywhere you are. Studying at college is not only about getting a degree, as science is important as you are graduated later. The output is not only focused on wealth, but also to serve and dedicate yourself to the community and the nation, said the alumnus of Accounting UNAIR.
Jonan looked enthusiastic during his lecture. He gave some opportunities to the freshmen to ask some questions. For him, during his dedication as a minister or the director of PT. KAI in 2009 2014, there were three challenges he faced. First, coordination with community, second, implementing same objectives with the community and third is morality problem.
淭he challenge to work with one best objective for the nation, not only objective which pursuant to individual or group interest, but for the community, he said.
Jonan said that infrastructure is an important element to build a nation. But the more important element is Indonesian human resources development.
淚f there檚 lack human resources, the development will be slow and different from the expectation, he said.
Jonan said that the challenge now is how to build better Indonesia with equality and justice. 淲e can stop loving Indonesia and UNAIR, he said.
During the interview, Jonan expected that UNAIR graduates can promote themselves more so they can perform at national level. 淭here is enough competition, our graduates are fine. But they need more actions, he said. (*)
