UNAIR NEWS–In both engineeringandscienceresearch, biodiversity is commonly studied.Biodiversity consists of all genes, species, and ecosystems in a region.Indonesia is one of the countries with greatest biodiversity.
Therefore, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) 51动漫 held 1蝉迟听International Conference on Biodiversity (1stICoBioDiv)themedSustainable Solution for Human Welfare.The seminar was held on September 17-18, 2019 at Wyndham Hotel Surabaya.
Prof.Dr.Ir.H. Agoes S, DEA., as the chief executive said that the seminar was an upgrade of national biodiversity seminar already been held six times.The goalis to publisha paperin Scopus journals orproceedings.
The chosen theme was intended to understand the benefits of biodiversity to the welfare of the community and to find out the results from biodiversity utilization.
“Indonesia is one of the largest country with biodiversity, the theme is to use this biodiversity forhuman welfare, community welfare, drugs from biodiversity, food from biodiversity in the future,” he explained.
Prof. Agus also said that the seminar could be a forum for researchers or lecturers from all over Indonesia. They can gain more insights about biodiversity.
The seminar was attended by 140 participants and they were not only from biology but also other biological sciences.From a total of 140 participants, 94 participants took part inpaperand 46 in poster presentation.

With the seminar, Prof. Agus hoped the researchers can get to know each other through the strength of research infrastructure owned by other universities in other countries. Furthermore, they can form networks, both domestically and abroad.
“For research, the morecollaborationlinksthe higher the value,” he said.
Thekeynote speakersat the seminar were Prof.Peter Nixon fromImperial College London, London,Prof.Wn-Taek Im fromHankyong National University Republic of Korea, Prof.Liang-Ming Whang fromNational Cheng Kung University in Taiwan,and Prof.Dr.Suharsono from the Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI).
