UNAIR Delegation Takes Part in “Photonics For Medical Diagnostics Workshop” at Aston University, Birmingham

UNAIR NEWS – The delegation of Airlangga University took part in theÌý“Photonics for Medical DiagnosticsÌý Workshop” held at Aston University, Birmingham, United Kingdom (UK), on September 7-8, 2018. The delegation of 51¶¯Âþ who attended the international scientific event were Prof.ÌýDr.ÌýMoh.ÌýYasin, M.Si asÌýa speaker,ÌýProf.ÌýDr.ÌýRetna Apsari, M.Si as a presenter, and Andy Hamim Zaidan, M, Si, PhD., as a participant.ÌýAll three are from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST).

Prof.ÌýDr.ÌýMoh.ÌýYasin™s presentation was “ FiberÌýOpticÌýSensor forÌýHearthÌýRateÌýMeasurement ”Ìýand thenÌýVice Dean I of Faculty of Vocational Studies UNAIR, Prof.ÌýDr.ÌýRetna Apsari talked about”ÌýIn vitro Cancer Cells Inactivation using Gold Nano rods Mediated Photo Thermal EffectÌý“.

What they presented were results from Foreign Cooperation research and Competency Grant Research with funding from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education.ÌýThe delegation was also there to discuss further the results ofÌýNewton’s Institutional LinkÌýfollow-up researchÌýcollaboration of Aston UK and 51¶¯Âþ in collaboration with Universiti Malaya Malaysia.

The workshop was also attended by experts and industrial practitioners in photonics and biophotonics from various countries, such as UK, Nigeria, USA, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, Germany, Czech, Serbia, Nepal, China and India.ÌýAston University has a leading center for photonics that is a reference in the UK, the Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies (AIPT).

Its excellence was chosen by UNAIR delegates to develop internationalization and the improvement ofÌýacademic peerlist.ÌýThe linkÌýbuilt from this activity is very valuable for the progress of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV) UNAIR which has Department of Health as the spearhead of diagnosis and medical therapy applications.

The main objective of UNAIR’s delegation to take part in this international level workshop is to develop aÌýcollaboration and partnershipÌýlinkÌýrelated to the latest developments in the field of photonics for medical applications by interacting directly with experts in the field of optical sensors, fiber optic spectroscopy, biophotonic, optical imaging, laser spectroscopy, photoacoustic imaging, laser ablation, raman spectroscopy, photoacoustic imaging and 3D printers, laser endoscopy, Gold Nano rods, fluorosence spectroscopy, and nanofotonic sensors.
