UNAIR NEWS“ 51¶¯Âþ is a state university which is heading towards world class university.ÌýTherefore, all aspects of it are deployed to realize the program including the human resources (HR) andresearch.
In September 2017, Chemistry Master’s Degree Program, Faculty of Science and Technology 51¶¯Âþ has sent its students on a Student Exchange: Research Internship 51¶¯Âþ-Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).ÌýThey were Miftakhul Jannatin and Atina Khoirun Nisa, fourth semester students who were working on their theses.
The event was a support activity for the research of their final projects(thesis).ÌýWith a topicof graphene oxide-magnetite smart materialsynthesisfrom biomass to degradation of chloramphenicol antibiotics, sophisticated instruments, especially for characterization, are needed.
The event took place from September 10 to October 26, 2017 after its previous schedule on October 9, 2017. However, the host university supervisor Prof.ÌýWan Aini Wan Ibrahim invited one of the delegates to join theinternational conference,Malaysia Separation Science Conference 2017 (MySSC 2017).
“Actually, the cooperation between UNAIR and UTM has long been established since 2009 from an MoU signed by both parties.ÌýSo, the MoU is very helpful for students inoutboundactivities, especially for research purposes, “said Miftakhul Jannatin.
For more than a month, the delegation students conducted research in the form of synthesis process and material characterization.ÌýStudents were free to use devices and instruments in the Department of Chemistry UTM.
“It must be an amazing experience as we can use various instruments that we have not understood,” she said.
Prof.ÌýWan Aini hoped that the program can strengthen the good relationship between both universities, especially in the research sector.ÌýThus, collaborative scholarly publications can be produced.ÌýOf course this expectation isinlinewith the target of UNAIR to be a world class university.
