UNAIR NEWS Another 楢irlangga Knight has made another achievement in an international competition. Aisyah Afnan, a new student from the Faculty of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline 51动漫 (FTMM UNAIR), successfully competed with other 1700 participants and won a silver award in the 2021 Young Inventors Challenge (YIC) competition. The competition was organized by the Association of Science Technology and Innovation (ASTI) from Malaysia virtually.

The focal point of YIC 2021 is innovation and research. Sassya innovated through a tool called Smanu (Smart Nurse): Digital Vital Signs and Intravenous Drip Monitor. Smanu is a tool to monitor temperature, heart rate, oxygen saturation, volume, and flow rate of infusions.

淭he tool I created uses the Internet of Things (IoT) system so that SMANU is integrated with a gadget or computer. I hope that with this tool, health workers can easily monitor the condition of patients and reduce direct contact with those affected by the Covid-19 virus, 渟aid Sassya.

Furthermore, Sassya said that her struggle in the competition was not easy. 淔rom April 2021 to October 2021, I struggled with this YIC competition. It means that I have been working on this competition since high school, she added.

Sassya檚 struggle began on April 8, 2021, with the stages of preparing a proposal. After qualifying for the next round, in September 2021, she submitted a report and a video of her work. Furthermore, Sassya was selected as a finalist who gave a presentation and was interviewed in October 2021, and she was announced as one of the winners on November 20, 2021.

淎lhamdulillah, my six-month struggle was not in vain. This achievement has realized my dream to make Indonesia proud in the international arena. Even though in the middle of the manufacturing process, SMANU also encountered many obstacles, such as finding research subjects, as well as the management of time between academics and competitions, she said.

However, Sassya is grateful that many people support her. 淚 am grateful because many have supported me, such as assistance from the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) team, my high school teachers, especially the principal, Mr. Sutardi, S. Pd, M. Pd, lecturers at Unair, especially my supervising lecturer, Dr. Eng. Intan Nurul. S. Si. M.T, to robotics friends, Kakarobot. They helped me to get through these obstacles, she said.

Finally, Sassya also said that it is never too late to achieve a dream. 淣ever hesitate to start new things, try to explore potential, and set goals. I also remember my supervisor檚 message, 楾here are no wasted results and regrets when we make our best efforts,櫇 concluded the student of the Nanotechnology Engineering Program.
