UNAIR NEWS – In order to achieve TopÌý500ÌýWorld Class UniversityÌýin 2020, Directorate of Academic Affairs 51¶¯Âþ (UNAIR) held aÌýDouble Degree / Joint DegreeÌýProgramÌýWorkshopÌýon Saturday, Feb 16 at Santika Premiere Gubeng Hotel.ÌýThe event was attended by Vice Dean I of all faculties and Program Coordinators (KPS) who will hold aÌýDouble degree / Joint DegreeÌýprograms in UNAIR.
The workshop discussed policies related to theÌýdouble degree / joint degree cooperationÌýprogram, policies and programs of Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs in the implementation and development of international cooperation in universities,Ìýdouble degree / joint degree programsÌýas a strategy towards theÌýTopÌý500ÌýWorld Class UniversityÌýin 2020, preparation of MoU and MoA contracts, and other things related to it.
The opening was carried out by UNAIR Director of Academic Affairs Prof.ÌýDr.ÌýBambang Sektiari Lukiswanto DEA, drh.ÌýHe said that recognition is not possible if it is not balanced with the quality ofÌýoutputÌý andÌýoutcomes standardsÌýÌýProf. Bambang explained that even though UNAIR had not been able to compete with campuses in the western region, for example UI and ITB.ÌýHowever, UNAIR has a strong determination to improve the quality of Indonesian education as well as contributing to the name of Indonesia on international scene.
“Indonesia is a great nation, if you want to go all outÌý, we must join hands to explore what you want to achieve,” said Prof.ÌýDr.ÌýBambang Sektiari.
He also said that it was undeniable that there were several obstacles related to the implementation of theÌýdouble degree / joint degree programs, such as funding, English language skills of students, and academic performance.ÌýTherefore Prof.ÌýDr.ÌýBambang Sektiari emphasized that everything must be prepared from now on.
Prof. Dr.ÌýNi Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, Msi as Executive Director ofÌýAirlangga Global EngagementÌý(AGE) also explained that theÌýdouble degree / joint degree program isÌýimportant as a trigger forÌýinternational faculty.ÌýIt is also beneficial for students, as students can have the experience taught by foreign lecturers.
“Here, AGE has the role to arrange double degree / joint degreeÌýcontract through establishing MoA and MoU contracts,” continued Prof. Dr.ÌýNi Nyoman.
