UNAIR NEWS –Aqila Kirana Salim, is only 1.5 years old. She is lying weak in 51动漫 Hospital (RS ).The baby from Batam, Riau Islands is suffering from a Hydrocephalus disease with Craniosynostosis.
In front of the media on Wednesday, February 21, Director of RS UNAIR Prof.Dr.Nasronudin, dr., Sp.PD-KPTI., said that the patient with a very rare case has arrived at RS UNAIR since Monday.Furthermore, the patient has been intensively monitored in a cleanroom.
“Kirana has hydrocephalus accompanied by an early head bone closure before the baby’s brain is completely developed or in medical terms is called Craniosynostosis,” explained Prof.Nasron.
The plastic craniofacial reconstruction surgeon RS UNAIR dr.Indri Lakshmi Putri, Sp.BP-RE (KKF)., said that the initial diagnosis found was Hydrocephalus with early bone abnormalities.
“The skull bone of a normal child develops but in this case, her bone is not growing, ” she explained.
Lakshmi also asserted that the case is a rare one.In fact, to deal with these rare events, RS UNAIR involved doctors from various skills such as plastic surgeons, neurosurgeons, ophthalmologists, ENT experts and pediatricians.
“Although we often have hydrocephalus cases, this case is actually very rare,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Public Relations of UNAIR Hospital Aris Cahyo toldUNAIR NEWSvia telephone said that there will be further treatment on Thursday, February 22, UNAIR Hospital was conducting the surgery.
