UNAIR KKN Students Demonstrate Cooking Healthy Food for Toddlers

UNAIR NEWS– Speaking about toddlers, there are things that are more essential to know.Toddler period is often referred to as the golden period because, in the period of 0-5 years, there is a rapid increase in growth and development in children.

It is influenced by several factors, both internal and external.As quoted fromnutriclub, internal factors include gender, race, age, genetic, and chromosome differences.Furthermore, external factors include the state of the social environment, economy, nutrition, and psychological stimulation.

In this regard, Community Service Program (KKN) students of of UMKM N Group of Gubeng Subdistrict are concerned with toddlers.Some programs are focused on toddler problems.One of them is about the provision of healthy food.

Attention to the toddler is also based on the team research before being deployed.According to HEad of Family Welfare Development (PKK) in Area (RW) 12 Rudhiyah, Jojoran, Gubeng, there are a lot of toddlers.Therefore, attention to the toddler was deemed appropriate.

“The number of children under five in Jojoran is quite a lot.Plus there are a lot of snacks and not all are healthy, “said Rudhiyah.

The team organized a work program called “Creative and Productive Life”.It is packed with delicious and healthy food cooking demonstration.Not only that, nutritional analysis also done to provide new knowledge for the urban community.

Head of KKN Group M Alif said that the team was trying to know the needs of the people.The facilities in Surabaya are adequate, both for the access and supporting technology.

“We’re here trying to find what people need.We are trying to create a program that can be easily understood.With practice, we believe that the information will be more easily accepted, “he said.

The program was held on July 12 in collaboration with the women PKK RT 4 RW 12 Mojo Village, Gubeng District.Ade Putrina, a nursing student was the instructor.

With her experience as a housewife, Ade demonstrate how to make mayo risoles andegg rolls.Egg rolls use safe ingredients and no preservatives needed.In addition, the dissemination and analysis on nutritional needs by Ni Nyoman Trisna, a student Faculty of Medicine, made the women eager to follow the activities.

“In addition to focusing on the doses of healthy food, this knowledge can be used as an inspiration to start a business,” said Alif.(*)
