UNAIR NEWS– Every year 51动漫 regularly provides scholarships to elementary school students around the campus. In 2018, the scholarships were awarded to 210 students from nine elementary schools around UNAIR campus.
The scholarship was given on Monday, May 21.There was Director of Student Affairs UNAIR Dr.M. Hadi Subhan, SH., MH., CN., and staffs, representatives of UPTD Surabaya, and the principal or representative of elementary school who received the scholarship.The nine schools were SDN Kalijudan I;SDN Mulyorejo I;SDN Manyar Sabrangan II;SDN Kalisari I;SDN Kalisari II;SDN Kejawan Putih I;SDN Sutorejo I;SD hidayatul Ummah;and SD Al-Huda.
“This scholarship from UNAIR is a form of our concern for the community around campus A, B, and C. We provide scholarships for public elementary schools and a few private elementary schools that need support,” said Dr.Hadi.
Each school has about 22 students who receive scholarships.In details, the scholarship reached Rp.400,000.Dr.Hadi added that the scholarship given is for the disadvantaged group, not limited to students who have excellent achievements.Because, he continued, nine years of compulsory education applies to all levels of society, regardless their intelligence.
“This scholarship is not associated with achievements.Our goal is to help the poor.In addition, the compulsoryeducation is forelementary school until junior high school.Smart or not they have to graduate elementary school and junior high school, ” he said.
The criteria of the scholarship recipients are those from economically disadvantaged students.Some of the parents work as self-employed, private employees,security, parking attendants, drivers, welders, as well as casual laborers.The utilization of the scholarship, Hadi said, was left entirely to the recipients.
In addition to scholarships to elementary students, according to UNAIR Faculty of Law lecturer, other assistance provided by UNAIR to the public is for street vendors (PKL) around Mulyosari District.The assistance was in the form of cash worth 5 million per stall.In 2017, the aid is given to the underprivileged community about 12 stalls.
Meanwhile, Sucak as UPTD staff of Region II of Surabaya expressed gratitude for the scholarship given by UNAIR.Because, according to him, in 2018, BOS funds (School Operational Assistance) provided by the government for schools have not been available.Therefore, the scholarship is enough to help students who need the cost for the continuity of education in their schools.
“Thanks to UNAIR for this scholarship.It is very helpful as BOS funds from the government in the second quarter is not yet available, “he said.(*)
