UNAIR Supports Online Learning Efforts

UNAIR NEWS “51¶¯Âþ was honored as it hosted a Seminar on Online Learning in Higher Education.The event was held in Kahuripan Hall Campus C on Monday, September 11, followed by various public and private universities in Indonesia.

Vice Rector I Prof.Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM was present on behalf of UNAIR Rector.In his speech, Djoko thanked Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education for the trust in organizing the Online Learning Seminar at Higher Education in UNAIR.

Furthermore, Djoko also said that the 21st century is a century of extraordinary technological development.Therefore, the seminar event for him was an effort to educate the life of the nation through the process of online learning.

“It’s a challenge we have to conquer.We must keep up with the technological developments and we must adapt, “he explained.

Djoko also strongly supported the efforts of learning online innovation.For him, with the application of both lecturers and students will be encouraged to continue to know, understand, analyze, and develop knowledge.

“With this method, lecturers can make the students asprofessionalleaders with morality,” he added.

Djoko said that UNAIR has implemented online learning in two faculties, Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Psychology.In the future Djoko hoped to develop it in all faculties in UNAIR.

“This online system has been done in FK and Faculty of Psychology.In essence UNAIR always supports the state for this matter, “said Djoko.

Attending to give presentations on online learning, Special Education Sub-Division Head, Directorate of Learning, General Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of Kemenristekdikti, Ridwan Roy Tutupoho.In his presentation, Ridwan said that online learning process or Long Distance Learning (PJJ) has existed for a long time.

“PJJ track record has been started in 1950 in the Central Written Teacher Education Course,” he explained.

Ridwan also added that in Indonesia the online learning system is still limited.He also pointed out that Indonesia is still far below Thailand and Singapore.

“We are still far behind.For universities which will develop online learning, regulations already exist from the central management, “he said.(*)
