UNAIR NEWS UNAIR welcomes students from Bidikmisi program who were through SNMPTN. There were 373 future freshmen in Bidikmisi program and they were motivated and briefed on Bidikmisi program in Garuda Mukti Hall.
淭he welcoming events for freshmen were divided into two session, on Wednesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 2. On the first day there were 187 students and on the second day there were 186 students from Bidikmisi program, said Tama as the head of the committee.
The events which invited their parents were attended by Vice Rector IV UNAIR, Junaidi Khotib, S.Si., M.Kes., Ph.D. In his address, he said that UNAIR never differentiates its students economically. Either with scholarships or with the highest tuition fee, all of them are treated the same and given the same facilities. For him, will and determination will determine the results.
淔or Bidikmisi students, don檛 worry, the opportunity given to learn, to use the facilities are the same with others who pay expensive to study, he said.
The graduate of Hoshi University emphasized the importance of parental supports as they are needed for their study continuation.
淚n graduation period, not few students with achievements were from Bidikmisi program like you, of course the parents have their part for this, he said.
Added the Vice Rector檚 statement, UNAIR Director of Student Affairs, Dr. M. Hadi Shubhan., S.H., M.H., CN., said that if rich people, or officials children can study higher is a normal thing.
淚f with a bamboo spear we can achieve freedom, it means the poor can study higher and it is extraordinary, he said followed with applause from the attendees.
Hadi also explained that Bidikmisi is not a free study, but a study which payment covered by the state. The program which was initiated by Ministry of Education and Culture in Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono reign era had a mission to stop poverty.
淟ife cost, tuition cost, all covered by the state and hopefully it can stop poverty, he said.
In the end of the event, the committee invited Hudha Abdul Rahman, an alumnus of Bidikmisi with great achievements in order to motivate the others. UNAIR Indonesian Literature alumnus who is taking his master degree in Universitas Padjajaran Bandung said that it was important to dream in the beginning and map the target they want to reach.
