UNAIR NEWS 揊inal game of Student League (LIMA) Basketball National fourth season has ended. 51动漫 women basketball team was runner-up in the game held at GOR C-Tra Arena, Bandung on Saturday, February 2. UNAIR team lost from Universitas Esa Unggul 44 to 61 points.
Captain of the team Putri Yuliana Anggita Bening said that she was proud enough to be able to lead her team to the final. Moreover, it is the last year she and some of her friends able to compete in LIMA representing UNAIR. According to Anggita who has scored 6 points out of 10 rebounds in the final, their success was the fruit of hardwork, compatibility and determination which UNAIR women basketball team has.
UNAIR player with most points scored, Nilam Rifai Savitri, said that there were many opportunities to score. With 19 points, she was quite proud of giving her best to UNAIR. According to Nilam, UNAIR team can compete well until the second quarter. But finally UNAIR team had to admit defeat in the end of the game.
For this competition, there were many new players in the team檚 composition. Therefore UNAIR team only expected to reach semifinals. Surprisingly, the team succeeded in getting into the final and got second place. Similar thing conveyed by the team檚 coach, Aries Herman, after the game.
淔rom the composition of players, 60% of them were new. It was their first time competing in LIMA so they had little experience compared to the other teams. Being in the final was not our target. Semifinal was quite good, Aries said.
In the future, he will train the players hard and for next year, he expect the team to be the national champion.
UNAIR women basketball team succeeded to get into the final after defeating Universitas Parahyangan 68-42 on Saturday, February 20. Meanwhile, the men檚 team was defeated by Univesitas Pelita Harapan in the quarter final.
In history, UNAIR basketball team has made great achievements in LIMA. In 2013-2014 season, the men檚 team was in the third place of East Java series, while the women was the champion in LIMA. In the next season (2014-2015), the women檚 team was the fourth place, while the men檚 team was the champion in East Java. This season (2015-2016), the women檚 basketball team was the second in national competition while the men檚 team was in the quarter final. (*)
