UNAIR NEWS –Viva Outer Division (VOD) is a work program of Department of Human Resources Development of Student Family of PSDKU Banyuwangi.The activity was done to introduce campus academic culture to new students (freshmen) Off Main Campus Study Program (PSDKU) UNAIR Banyuwangi.
According to the chief executive of VOD, Bondan Sigit, a series of VOD activities were a form of orientation to the students, different from the orientation in Surabaya.For 4 days in the end of August, freshmen were trained to adapt in Banyuwangi campus with materials and activities introducing the campus and strengthening the ties.
The first 2 days of the first week, August 25-26, were focused on providing material to new students on campus culture, Banyuwangi culture,leadership,freshmandebate, literacy, organizational introduction, and introduction to Student Activity Unit.Special the Banyuwangi cultural material, the committee invited speakers from Banyuwangi District Government to maintain the synergy of Banyuwangi UNAIR Campus with Banyuwangi Regional Government.
The second week of VOD, September 8-9, in contrast to the first week which was mostly done in the room and involved the lecturer and the local government.The second week was filled withoutdoor activities freshmen configuration activity,outbound,freshmen event, and inaugural night.
“For the second week,we promote social spirit, organization, and the solidarity of freshmen to their classmates,” Bondan said.
According to him, these activities were a form of community service which is prepared and carried out by the students themselves.Therefore, he added, the student was allowed to form his own committee to succeed in the event.As for the solidarity and teamwork, the event is packaged in the form ofoutboundactivitiesand freshmen configuration.
“This series of VOD events were separated quite far, because two weeks were filled with orientation in each program which were also included in a series of VOD events, but during the break, we keep assigning our juniors, such as collecting boxes for configuration, essays. , gathering the identity of Banyuwangi UNAIR community, etc. Bondan said.
Wulan Lestari, a 2018 new student, said that VOD activities were very memorable for them.
“The VOD was fun, especially the second weekwas not boring, because there is a configuration andoutbound,especially the night time inauguration was also more exciting, moments that will not be forgotten,” said Wulan.
